Meet Our Internal Medicine Primary Care Providers of Johnson City

Rebecca J. Copeland, MD

Dr. Copeland is a professor at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine, board certified in Internal Medicine and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. She earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts from ETSU in Johnson City, TN. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis, TN. Her medical training included residency at ETSU/QCOM (Categorical Internal Medicine) and Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN (Family Medicine and Categorical Internal Medicine).

Debalina Das, MD, MPH

Dr. Das completed her medical degree at the Medical College of Calcutta, Calcutta University, Kolkata, India in 2003, and she completed a Masters of Public Health with a Community Health concentration in 2006.

Her internship was completed in 2004 in Neuro-Surgery at the Medical College of Calcutta, Calcutta University, Kolkata, India and her residency was completed in Internal Medicine at the ETSU Quillen College of Medicine in 2015.

Kenneth E. Olive, MD, FACP

Dr. Olive is a professor and an associate dean for academic and faculty affairs at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine and is board certified in Internal Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from Duke University in Durham, NC. He received his medical degree at The Brody School of Medicine at the East Carolina University in Greeneville, NC. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship and residency from the USAF Medical Center, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.

Blair Reece, MD

Dr. Reece is a professor at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine, board certified in Internal Medicine and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health, from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore MD. She obtained her Masters of Health Science in Environmental Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore MD, and her medical degree from Quillen College of Medicine, Johnson City, TN. 

Steven Ruiz, DO

Dr. Ruiz is a professor at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine and is board certified in Internal Medicine.  He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, NC.  He received his medical degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA and completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, NJ in conjunction with the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine.

Rupal Shah, MD

Dr. Shah is an assistant professor at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine and is board certified in Internal Medicine. She earned her Doctorate of Medicine from the BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad, India. She completed her residency in internal medicine at ETSU/QCOM in Johnson City, TN.

Julie Hunt, MSN, FNP-BC

Julie is Board Certified through the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC). She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from ETSU in 1998 and her Masters of Science in Nursing from ETSU in 2008.
