GENERAL CARDIOLOGISTS

Our main goal of this program is to provide education to patients on heart failure and prevent exacerbations or "flare ups". We treat patients acutely in the clinic to hopefully prevent hospital admissions.

Meet Our General Cardiologists

Stephen A. Geraci, MD, FACC, FAHA, FCCP, FACP

Dr. Geraci is a professor at the ETSU Quillen College of Medicine. A graduate of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Dr. Geraci completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. He then entered fellowship training in cardiovascular diseases at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston and did additional work in critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh’s Presbyterian University Hospital.

 

 

Dr. Geraci then finished an additional two-year fellowship in clinical pharmacology with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration/Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences Cooperative Program in Maryland.

Timir K. Paul, MD, PhD, MPH, FACC

Dr. Timir Paul is an assistant professor and the Director Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine. He is skilled in the evaluation and treatment of peripheral vascular diseases. He performs angioplasty and stenting in renal, iliac, femoral, and popliteal arteries, as well as tibial and peroneal arteries.


Dr. Paul earned his MD from the University of Dhaka, Dhaka; MPH in Cardiovascular Epidemiology from the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Tulane University, New Orleans, La.; and a PhD in Cardiovascular Epidemiology, Tulane University, School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, New Orleans, La.

He completed his residency in internal medicine with the Department of Internal Medicine at the Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, Tenn. and his fellowship in cardiology at Oschner Clinic, New Orleans, La..  He finished his interventional cardiology fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, N.C.

Vijay Ramu, MD, FACC, FHRS

Dr. Ramu is a professor, the Director of Cardiology Fellowship Program, and the Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology atETSU Quillen College of Medicine. He received his medical education at the Bangalore Medical College in India; residency, chief residency, and cardiology fellowship at ETSU/QCOM in Johnson City, TN.

 

He received his clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, FL.

Steven M. Smith, MD

Dr. Smith is an associate professor at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine. He earned a Bachelor of Science (Magna Cum Laude) from ETSU in Johnson City, TN and his Doctor of Medicine from ETSU/QCOM. He completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY.

 

He obtained his residency in internal medicine from University of Louisville/Department of Internal Medicine.
