Meet Our Infectious Diseases Providers

Jonathan Moorman, MD, PhD, FACP

Dr. Moorman is a professor, the Vice Chair of Research and Scholarship Division Chief of Infectious, Inflammatory, and Immunologic Disease, and the Residency Program Director at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine. He is also the Co-Director for the Department of Medicine. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Summa cum Laude) from Loyola College in Maryland; a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Virginia School of Medicine; a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Virginia. His medical training included an internship in internal medicine at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in Charlottesville, VA; residency in internal medicine at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in Charlottesville, VA; and a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in Charlottesville, VA.

Lamis W. Ibrahim, MD

Dr. Ibrahim is an assistant professor and a senior medical student education director at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine. She received an MBBS from Beirut Arab University, School of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon. Her medical training includes a infectious disease fellowship at the ETSU/QCOM in Johnson City, TN; internal medicine residency at ETSU/QCOM; internal medicine residency at the Beirut Arab University/Hammoud Hospital UMC in Saida, Lebanon; and participated in the multidisciplinary internship program at the Beirut Arab University/Hammoud Hospital UMC in Saida, Lebanon.e of Medicine in 2015.

James Myers, MD

Dr. Myers is a professor and a director of the fellowship program for the Division of Infectious, Inflammatory, and Immunologic Disease at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from ETSU in Johnson City, TN. He completed his medical degree at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. He completed his internship, internal medicine residency, and fellowship in Infectious Disease at ETSU/QCOM.

Zhi Qiang (John) Yao, MD, PhD

Dr. Yao is a Professor of Medicine at East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City. He also directs the Hepatitis Program at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Mountain Home, Tennessee. Prior to joining the faculty in the Department of Internal Medicine’s Division of Infectious Diseases, Dr. Yao served on the faculty at the University of Virginia’s School of Medicine and was a Senior Fellow at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Paras Patel, MD

Dr. Patel is an associate professor at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine. He earned a Doctorate of Medicine from the BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad, India and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) Degree from University of Gujarat, India. His medical training includes a residency in general surgery, VS, General Hospital, NHL, Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad, India; residency in internal medicine at ETSU/QCOM Johnson City, TN; and fellowship in infectious diseases, Department of Internal Medicine at ETSU/QCOM.

Wael Shams, MD, FACP

Dr. Shams is a professor at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine. His education included Premedical & Graduate Medical Education obtaining MBCHB, Masters and Doctorate Degrees of Internal Medicine from the University of Alexandria in Egypt. His medical training included residency training in internal medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry - Morristown Memorial Hospital program, Morristown, NJ. and fellowship training in Infectious Diseases at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY. Dr. Shams is also a recognized  Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Dima Youssef, MD

Dr. Youssef is an assistant professor at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine. She graduated from the University of Alexandria/Faculty of Medicine, Egypt with a Bachelor degree of Medicine and Surgery, MB.ChB. She obtained an Egyptian Master Degree of Internal Medicine from the University of Alexandria/Department of Medicine. She was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine after Internal Medicine residency training in Morristown Memorial Hospital in New Jersey, USA.

Roxanne Underwood, MSN, FNP-BC

Ms. Underwood is a clinical instructor at Quillen College of Medicine within the Department of Internal Medicine.  She is a Family Nurse Practitioner with the Division of Infectious Disease, HIV Center of Excellence.  Ms. Underwood received her Master of Science in Nursing, Magna Cum Laude, from East Tennessee State University in 2012 as well as  her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Magna Cum Laud, in 2004.

Janet Williams, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC

Ms. Janet Williams is ANCC board certified Family Nurse Practitioner who specializes in primary care at the HIV Center of Excellence. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Tennessee State University, Cum Laude, in 2014 and then earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Lincoln Memorial University, Cum Laude, in 2016. Ms. Williams recognizes the privilege of providing not only the physical care of her patients but also the emotional side of care. She is honored to join Quillen College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, in April 2018. Ms. Janet Williams is a native of Johnson City, Tennessee. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her two daughters.

Matthew R. Krolikowski, D.O.

Dr. Krolikowski is an assistant professor at ETSU Physicians. He earned a Doctorate of Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His medical training includes a residency from Norton Community Hospital. He completed his fellowship in infectious diseases, Department of Internal Medicine at Quillen ETSU Physicians.

Susan D. Fields, LCSW

Susan provides individual and family psychotherapy services. Susan received a Bachelor of Science in Music from East Tennessee State University. She completed her Master of Social Work at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
